Sonoran Arts League:
The Sonoran Arts League is a non-profit organization serving local, regional and statewide members, drawing friends and followers throughout the USA and Canada. We believe that artistic awareness is essential to life and community. Our vision is to be the premier art organization that supports and serves our community by nurturing a culture of creativity through education, events, and activities that connect the arts to the human spirit.
Formed in 1975 as the Cave Creek Craft Council, the organization’s 575 members actively participate in community outreach programs, youth mentoring and art education. The League produces several events, such as the annual Hidden in the Hills Studio Tour & Sale, Small Works “Holiday” Show and the yearly Sonoran Festival of Art, and partners with the Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center on the annual Empty Bowls Project.
With a special focus on mentoring youth, the League fosters artistic growth in the following ways: Youth Art and Scholarships, ART REACH (outreach programs), Incentive Awards, Art Experiences and Resources, and the Foothills Art Academy (partnering with Education & Community Services, a division of Cave Creek Unified School District) in bringing community art classes in a variety of mediums for children and adults.
The Gallery at el Pedregal:
The League teamed with The Boulders Resort in 2014 to bring the public an exceptional collection of artwork, art workshops, artists-in-residence, and art events – all in one beautiful place, “The Gallery at el Pedregal”. Offering a rotation collection of one of a kind juried works by League artists, art workshops for all ages and skill level, artists-in-residence, youth art exhibits, and art events throughout the year. (34505 N. Scottsdale Road, second floor)
Sonoran Arts League provides an environment where creative individuals with similar interests, values and goals form alliances that benefit their work and support the community through educational programs. The League artists practice in multiple disciplines: sculptors, painters, potters, weavers, sketchers, jewelers and artists who create with glass, batik, mosaic, gourds, pastel, pencil and photography – nearly every artistic medium known. Diversity makes us strong and draws new partners in steadily increasing numbers.
